About Courtney

Courtney Giardina was born and raised just outside of Rochester,NY where she jumped and tumbled her way through school as
a gymnast and cheerleader. She credits cheering under the lights on Friday nights as the reason for her love of football.  Realizing that becoming a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader was probably not a realistic ambition, Courtney decided to take her creative talents down a different route. In May 2012 she traded cold, snowy winters for extremely humid summers in Charlotte, North Carolina and worked early mornings and late nights on top of a full-time job to create Tear Stained Beaches. When she’s not in the midst of writing songs, poems or debut novels, Courtney enjoys being in front of the camera as an actress, running 5Ks and singing loudly to country music in her Jeep. In her world, everywhere is a stage.

What’s your favorite line from any movie?
I’m a hopeless romantic who believes in happily ever after, so I’d have to say my favorite line would be from Notting Hill: I’m just a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her. Gets me everytime!

If you could have been told one thing that you weren’t told when you were a teenager, what would you like to have heard?
That you don’t have to have life all figured out at 18. Dreams and plans change and you can start over at any moment. Don’t ever think you’re stuck on one path in life because that might have been what you chose then.

What song lyric would you best use to describe your outlook on life?
I’m going to quote a favorite country song of mine by Rascal Flatts: Life throws you curves, but you learn to swerve. Life never goes as we planned and never really ends up the way we think it will. I think it’s important to adapt to situations and just go with it. You’ll always end up where you’re supposed to be.

If you could relive a past moment in your life, what would it be and why?
I think if I could relive on moment it would be as a cheerleader, standing on the sidelines of one of my high school football games. Friday Night Lights were some of my favorite times when I was younger.

If you won the Miss Universe pageant, what would your message to young girls be?
If I were Miss Universe, I would tell young girls to love themselves for who they are. That they have so many amazing qualities to offer and they need to focus more on building those qualities than trying to become who they think someone else wants them to be.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
It changed a bit from time to time, but some of the ones I remember were a Pirate, an Olympic Gymnast and a Pop Star. I guess I’ve always had quite a creative mind.

Describe Your Ideal Romantic Date?
My ideal date would be a picnic on the beach watching the sunset as the waves washed the shore.

Who is Your Favorite Disney Princess and Why?
I love Princess Jasmine because of her fiery personality and her ability to really stick up for what she wanted. She never settled for less than what she knew would make her truly happen.

What is Your Favorite Song of the Moment?
Anyone who knows me, would laugh at this question as they’ve all had to hear it on repeat endless amounts of times. Currently it is Cruiseby Florida Georgia Line. I can’t imagine what people at red lights think of me when I’m singing along to it in my Jeep.

What are Your Currently Working On?
I actually just finished my next WIP. It’s in the BETA reading process and I’m rearranging words to try and think up a title. It will be available in Winter 2014!

Is it a Sequel to Tear Stained Beaches?
It’s not a sequel, but I promise all my readers they will get an update on Haylie in it. J
