Game of Love
The Remington’s Book One
By Melissa Foster

BLURB
Ellie Parker is a master at building walls around her heart. In the twenty-five years she’s been alive, Dex Remington has been the only person who has always believed in her and been there for her. But four years earlier, she came to Dex seeking comfort and then disappeared like a thief in the night, leaving him a broken man.

Dex Remington is one of the top PC game developers in the United States. He’s handsome, smart, and numb. So damn numb that he’s not sure he’ll ever find a reason to feel again.

A chance encounter sparks intense desires in Ellie and Dex. Desires that make her want to run—and make him want to feel. A combination of lust and fear leads these young lovers down a dangerous path. Is it possible to cross a burned bridge, or are they destined to be apart forever?

I RECEIVED AN ARC IN EXCHANGE OF THE HONEST REVIEW

This was my first Melissa Foster’s read and it was worth the wait. It’s a charming story about Ellie and Dex’s journey and it introduces us to the Remingtons series.
Ellie Parker has had a difficult childhood and her only refuge then was Dex Remington. I like Ellie, she’s been through a lot from an early age but has fought to make something of herself. Her passion for helping children in need was inspiring. I personally believe that wanting to educate children with disabilities or setback of any kinds is a calling and it takes special types of people to do this.
Dex Remington on the other hand, I wasn’t a fan. It’s a great thing when a character bugs me like a 3D person would.  I get it, Ellie did a number on him and so did his father’s strict upbringing. But I felt that not dealing with it by choosing to go numb, was a really bad move for someone this smart. I wanted to shake him a little… trust me, that’s a good thing! And his existential crisis, can someone slap his head for me! Dude, it’s a video game not heroin, so chill! I happen to love video games and gamers J
I really liked the story and the length of the novel. It makes for a nice afternoon read. The characters were well written and had a great supporting cast and you know how much I like a good supporting cast. I thought the story went in circle a few times and Ellie’s more serious issues were addressed but not really dealt with especially at the end. It was an entertaining first glimpse of a very talented family: a gamer, a sculptor, a writer, a skier and... a candlestick maker… no?
