In the second novel in
Bronwen Evans’s sexy new Disgraced Lords series, two very independent souls
find themselves fighting to resist a deepening passion.
When Beatrice Hennessey sets out to confront Lord Coldhurst, the
notorious rogue who killed her brother in a duel, her intent is to save her
family from destitution. She’s determined to blackmail the man into a loveless
marriage. She’ll make the wealthy Lord Coldhurst pay for the rest of his life.
But while greeting his ship, Beatrice takes a tumble into the Thames—only to be
fished out by a pair of strong masculine arms that tempt her to stay locked in
their heated embrace forever. That is, until she realizes those arms belong to
Sebastian Hawkestone, Lord Coldhurst himself.
The little drowned mermaid has an interesting proposition indeed;
one that Sebastian is surprised to find quite agreeable. Although he’s had
women more beautiful, she is pleasing to the eye, and besides, it’s time he
fathered an heir. Beatrice promises to be the ideal wife; a woman who hates him
with an all-consuming passion is far too sensible to expect romance. However,
it isn’t long before Sebastian’s plan for a marriage of convenience unravels,
and he’s caught up in the exhilarating undertow of seduction.

AN ARC IN EXCHANGE OF THE HONEST REVIEW
This is the second book of Disgraced
Lords series. Once again, one of the Libertine Scholars has been set up, this
time it was Sebastian Hawkestone, we already knew from A Kiss of Lies. He killed a man in a duel. Have you noticed
how their libertine ways get them into trouble? Maybe they should use their scholars’
knowledge a little more. Sebastian was on the run in Jamaica until he received
a royal pardon. On his arrival back from exile, Beatrice Hennessey accosted him with a very interesting proposal: you
killed my brother, now you shall marry me. I love historical romances and
their noble logic!
Sebastian
and Beatrice’s match was far from being a love one… at first. I mean, who
wants to lay with her brother’s killer? But as more information was revealed,
the truth about the duel and the vendetta against the Libertine Scholars came to light. But Sebastian and Beatrice were already hitched and
decided to stay married anyway. Again, I
love historical romances and their noble logic!
Unlike A Kiss of
Lies’ Christian and Serena, two deeply wounded souls finding each other, A
Promise of More’s Sebastian and Beatrice looked and acted more like most heroes
in historical romance novels. Nevertheless,
I really enjoyed the mystery part of the book and the entire series… I think I
figure who is executing their vengeance on the Libertine Scholars and I’m
dying to ask the author if I’m right. Bronwen
Evans, you might receive a message.
The book is full of heated passion
and interesting analogies. The characters are smart and funny when they don’t
think with their… I recommend the book and the series. I’ll personally keep on following it until the last one.
